from harlem to los angeles

Harlem and Los Angeles are not as far apart as they seem.


Sometimes different places have a very similar energy. It’s not always visible but occasionally there are common threads underneath the surface. The first time I visited Harlem I was struck by how much it reminded me of the Westlake/MacArthur Park area of Los Angeles. Despite the significant historical and demographic differences between the two places, the view from street level was very familiar.
